Fractions & Decimals in Motion is a student-led, "Meaning-First" mastery module designed specifically for Grades 4 and 5. Instead of starting with procedures, we start with purpose—using stories, visuals, and real-world scenarios to help concepts finally "click".

What Your Student Will Learn

During this 7-session journey, your child will master the core concepts of 4th and 5th-grade math by focusing on the relationship between fractions and decimals.

They will learn how to accurately explain what a fraction represents, how to convert fractions into decimals (like understanding that 1/2 and $0.5 are the same value), and how to use these numbers to make and test real-world predictions.

By treating math as a language for engineering, students practice collecting data, analyzing results, and communicating their logic clearly. This approach doesn't just teach them how to solve a problem—it teaches them to understand why the solution works. 

Curriculum Standards

This module is built on a rigorous academic foundation. While our teaching method is innovative and story-driven, the content is fully aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for 4th and 5th-grade mathematics, including:

• CCSS.4.NF.C.5 & CCSS.4.NF.C.6: Expressing fractions as decimals and using decimal notation.

• MP1 & MP4: Making sense of problems, persevering in solving them, and modeling with mathematics.

• Proportional Reasoning: Understanding values on a number line and comparing numerical data.
